Forest Management

At Bowman Lumber, we believe in best forest management practices. We primarily focus on selective cutting to allow for continued growth of trees while giving more room for new growth to develop. We do our best to manage and harvest the timber with minimal damage to the surrounding area. Our goal is to always keep the best interests of the land and the landowner in mind throughout the entire process.
Call Adam Bowman at 607-760-6660 or our office at 607-692-2595 for your free estimate and we would be happy to walk you through the process, answering any questions you may have! You may also send us an email at bowmanlumber@gmail.com and someone will get back to you within the week!

FAQS:

How big does my property have to be for you to give me an estimate?

Generally speaking, our desired acreage is 10 acres and beyond. However, we have done smaller lots and are always willing to take a look at your property no matter how many acres you have! If we cannot help you, we will help direct you to someone else in our industry who can.

How far do you travel?

We like to stay local but we have gone into Pennsylvania for several jobs. We are willing to take a look at any piece of hardwood timber. It never hurts to ask and we will do our best to make sure we are the best fit for your needs. We want you, as the landowner, to be satisfied with the work being done and the end result.

What happens after I call you?

We will send our foresters out to walk your property and give you an estimate for the value of the trees. If you are satisfied with the estimate and want to proceed with us, our foresters will come back and mark the trees to meet your management plan goals. A contract will be drawn up and signed before any logging begins. Our foresters will be available to you at any point during the process to answer any questions or concerns that may arise.

What are best forest management practices?

They are a set of preventative measures put in place to help prevent erosion and damage to the land by humans. We will disturb the land but with the utmost care, attention to detail, and conscious effort to ensure the land is in better shape than when we began. We utilize logging bridges, build ditches, and so on to ensure your land is taken care of in the best way possible!

Will you come buy the tree(s) in my front yard?

No, most commonly the trees around your yard are shorter, more limby, and at one point in time most likely had hardware in it from clotheslines, nails, tree forts, etc.
